LCC plans to schedule Lutheran Early Response Team trainings quarterly in the Northern Illinois District. Each participant in the three-hour training receives official credentials, LERT manual, and LERT vest. In order to better manage volunteers and resources, FEMA is finalizing a guideline on credentialing volunteers for large-scale disasters. The federal guidelines indicate that volunteers responding to a disaster should be trained and certified. LCC is providing training for Lutheran Early Response Teams (LERT) throughout our district. Should a disaster strike these teams would be put on call and may be asked to deploy in 72 hours or less to the disaster site.
This training will prepare team member for credentialing and will focus on the safety, work, and ministry of Lutherans as Early Responders.

Registration and a light breakfast, lunch, or dinner will start 30 minutes prior to class followed by the three-hour course. You can register online and the fee can be paid online with a credit card at time of registration, or at the event when you check-in, by cash, check or credit card.

Last Saturday LCC completed the last scheduled LERT training for 2011. The training was hosted by Our Savior Lutheran Church in Carol Stream. Twenty-seven new LERT volunteers from six Lutheran Congregations were trained. We now have 556 trained LERT volunteers, 300 trained this year alone.
