Alabama Tornadoes Prompt Call for Help from Southern District Disaster Response Coordinator Print E-mail
tornado damage in Alabama Reverend Ed Brashier, Disaster Response Coordinator for the LCMS Southern District has contacted LCC asking for financial and volunteer support in the wake of the tornadoes that swept through Jefferson County Alabama this past Sunday and Monday. There is an immediate need for chainsaw certified volunteers who can travel to Alabama this Friday through Tuesday. Reverend Brashier is also appealing for financial gifts to help families who have suffered losses. LCC will update the situation in Alabama on our website as news comes in. As of today the scope of damage is as follows:
  • 211 Homes Destroyed (Jefferson and St. Clair Counties reporting)
  • 218 Homes with Major Damage (Jefferson and St. Clair Counties reporting)
  • 13 Homes with Minor Damage (Jefferson and St. Clair Counties reporting)
  • 25 Homes with Damage (Chilton County)
