Pastor Alex Merlo of Iglesia San Pablo Aurora Needs Commercial Mixer to Continue and Expand Ministry |
|
|
Iglesia San Pablo in Aurora has a unique venture that supports four vicars serving their community. Members of the church make and sell tamales to and through area churches one weekend a month. At this time they are making approximately 1000 tamales over one weekend each month. These are then sold to two churches in Aurora. Pastor Merlo is looking to acquire a commercial mixer for the church that will allow them to expand their operation and serve a larger community while at the same time raising additional funds to support the vicars. There are over a dozen ladies in the church that volunteer making these tamales and all are willing to expand the operation. Here is what they hope to acquire:
A commercial bakery mixer of no less than 30 quarts with no less than a 2 horsepower motor. The very best price they have found for a new unit is $1,800 with $200 shipping.

Kenyan Pastor Needs Replacement Bus to Continue Transportation Ministry |

Kenyan Pastor Needs Replacement Bus to Continue Transportation Ministry
Every weekday Reverend Daniel Mulwa (pictured) in Nairobi, Kenya sees that nearly 40 children living in poverty get a ride to a Christian school. These children rely on Reverend Mulwa for an education that gives them a chance to rise out of poverty to care for themselves and their families. Recently, the very old and undersized van he has been using finally failed completely. Reverend Mulwa has appealed to LCC to help him acquire a new bus that is larger and more reliable. This will allow him to continue a vital ministry to children and their families. The bus will also be used to transport mission teams that visit Kenya. Tim Kurth of LCC has a longstanding relationship with Daniel who has helped arrange mission work for teams Tim has taken to Kenya since 1999. Thank you for considering a gift of any size.

St. Matthew is still recovering expenses for the replacement of the boiler in their soup kitchen and now faces nearly $10,000 in gutter repairs to stop the flow of water into the sanctuary. Every time it rains or snows more and more damage is being done to the interior of their historic church. Your donations will help preserve their facility and keep their outreach ministry going. |

Geri Brazeal of Christ the King Chicago Appeals for Assistance for Funeral Costs |
|
|
Geri Brazeal, wife of Pastor John Brazeal (pictured) at Christ the King in Chicago, who are both dear friends of LCC, are seeking assistance to cover the funeral costs for one of their most dedicated volunteers. The request came as part of a thank you note for a general gift to their ministry that recently came through LCC to Christ the King. Please consider making a gift and help Christ the King help a grieving family in their time of loss. Geri writes...
Dear Friends,
We are indeed grateful that the Lord moved someone to donate to our ministry. The church council has chosen to use this gift to help defray the cost of the funeral of one of the volunteers who cooked lunches for our school. We are in the process of collecting donations to cover the cost of her funeral ($4200).
She died last week after complications following the amputation of her leg. There were circulation problems due to her advanced age and diabetes. She had financial problems so there was no insurance.
Your gift is indeed a timely blessing to assist this family in their time of need.
I can do all things through Him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

Reverend Robert Rahn of Lutheran Heritage Foundation Seeks Support for Sudanese Seminary |
|
|
Reverend Robert Rahn of Lutheran Heritage Foundation is seeking support for a Lutheran seminary in Sudan. He explains...
The Lutheran Heritage Foundation, sponsor of the Concordia Lutheran Institute for the Holy Ministry(CLIHM), Yambio, South Sudan, is looking for help to cover travel expenses for volunteer pastors who serve on the seminary faculty from Finland, Kenya and Tanzania. They do not have a way to generate support for their travel as do pastors here in the U.S. Our first volunteer going over is Rev. Art Bolstad and he will be there for three weeks. He personally is covering most of his own expenses. The second need is for help to cover the monthly stipend of the 20 students who will be in the seminary program. This is to help sustain their families while they are attending the seminary. We provide them with a modest $75 per month and it amounts to $750 for ten months for each student and for the 20 students that means $15,000 for each year. We try to fund this outside of the regular budget of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sudan/South Sudan for which we provided $100,000 in 2011. CLIHM is hosting its third group of students who will be in training for the next four years. Anyone interested in serving as a faculty member can e mail Rev. Rahn, LHF Founder, at

Your Donations Help Pastor Visit Ill Brother in South Africa |
|
|
Thanks in part to your generosity Pastor Stephane Kalonji was able to visit his terminally ill brother in South Africa. He writes...
I write to thank LCC for soliciting financial help for my trip to visit my very ill brother, in South Africa. It was truly a blessing to be able to share this very difficult time with my brother; his condition remains crtical and it was sad to leave him but we spent our time together in prayer and total trust in the Lord. The support raised by LCC partially covered the cost of my airfare. May our Savior Jesus Christ abundantly bless LCC and all who made the donations.

Tragic Car Accident takes Life of Pastor's Wife and Two Children |

Rev. Jeff Geske and his family were in a tragic car accident Saturday afternoon just west of Topeka, Kansas. Rev. Geske's wife, Laura, and two of their three children, Joshua (age 8) and Joy (age 3), were killed. Kansas District President Keith Kohlmeier shares these words: "The answer to the question of WHY is not found in words that we can say, but at the foot of the cross of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Laura and Joshua and Joy know the answer to WHY. God help us all learn what that means. We believe in the resurrection of the dead, and the Life everlasting." Rev. Geske is the pastor of Christ the King in Salina, Kansas.
LCC is collecting funds to assist Rev. Geske and Jacob. All contributions are tax deductible.

Christmas for the Poor in Myanmar |
|
|
Request from Rev. Charles Edwards, Pastor, National Lutheran Church of Myanmar
Christmas is approaching.
Our newly democrat government has given some freedom to many sectors but it is not clear how much freedom they will give to religious organizations. But, some news said that this Christmas will be more free and have more opportunities than last year's.
Our church has decided to do two projects in this Christmas season.
Our church is located in the poorest area of Yangon. In this area there are crimes, lawlessness, illiteracy, less educations, illness etc.. Most of the parents go to work (hard labor) very early in the morning and come back at night. So, hundreds of children are on the streets during the day time looking for food. Our first church focus is to look after 500 children during this season. We care for them, feed them and fulfill their small needs. (Give used cloths, food, medicines, and gift).
The second focus - in our area there are thousands of people who have never heard the gospel in a culturally appropriate way, or had an opportunity to respond to the gospel. Our church is planning to visit 500 homes during this season and give a small gift and tracks (Special Christmas message) to every home.
Last week, the government brought Buddha's tooth (relics) from China and millions of people meditated upon this. Widows, orphans, hard labors, etc. gave their respects and donated all their properties to that tooth.
CHRISTIANS DO NOT HAVE ANY RELICS OF JESUS BECAUSE JESUS IS ALIVE!
Our church focuses on this and proclaims the LIVING OF JESUS to the PEOPLE BOUND AND IMPOVERISHED BY EVIL POWERS.
OUR CHURCH NEEDS YOUR HELP!
We need your prayers, encouragements and smallest donations. Through you we can help many children to be happy in this Christmas. Thousands of unreached people will hear or read the gospel of JESUS CHRIST for the first time in their life.
Can you help us?

Voice of Care Requests Help With Special Needs Camp Scholarship |
|
|
Voice of Care is a ministry to developmentally challenged people and those who care for them within our Northern Illinois District. Caring for those with special needs is a 24/7 responsibility that comes with financial challenges, many doctor and therapy appointments and more. Families rarely get breaks as few people are equipped to care for their special needs children and so provide time off. Voice of Care addresses many of these concerns by providing scholarships for the Special Needs Camp program held at Walcamp in Kingston, Illinois each summer. In order to make this camp accessible to everyone, Voice of Care scholarships cover some or all of the cost for families in need. LCC is cooperating with Voice of Care to help provide this year’s scholarship fund. Your gift will make it possible for families to send their developmentally challenged child or adult child to camp. This is a memorable event for the child and provides a much needed respite for the family.
“My daughter, Ellen, has attended Walcamp for the past several years, and has enjoyed her experience there immensely. We are ever grateful to the Voice of Care for giving us the financial support to be able to send Ellen to Walcamp each of these past summers. Ellen has been participating in the Walcamp "Special Needs Camps" that Walcamp hosts through Voice of Care's gracious "Campership" scholarships. Each summer, Voice of Care has graciously extended our family a 50% Campership towards the cost of the week's session fee for Special Needs Camp at Walcamp.
Ellen has made life-long friends through her camp experiences out at Walcamp, of which she treasures. The loving, caring staff at Walcamp and Voice of Care, makes it such a blessing to be a part of this Faith community of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Ellen looks forward to each summer to hopefully be together again with her same Special Needs Camp friends, to share her year with them, and to make new friends.
We are humbly thankful and so very grateful for the Voice of Care's financial support to Ellen, to have made these past summers' such a wonderful time for Ellen to enjoy and experience God's love through the awesome camp staff out at Walcamp.”
