Henryville Tornado Recovery Effort Desperately Needs Volunteers Between Now and Christmas |

LCC has received an urgent request from Tricia Major, coordinating Indiana District response to the Henryville tornado.
They are striving to get displaced families into their new homes by Christmas. Volunteers are needed to make this happen. Tricia writes...
"We are in dire need of volunteers for the next six weeks so we can get six March 2nd Tornado families in their homes before Christmas.
We need skilled and semi-skilled volunteers to complete the homes. We need carpet layers, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and semi-skilled people who can take direction. Free housing is available for volunteers. Contact LCC at (866) 455-6466 if you have any questions."

LCC Honors Our Volunteers! |

On Thursday evening, January 13th, LCC hosted our annual Volunteer Appreciation Pot Roast Dinner to say THANK YOU to all our dedicated volunteers from the NID area. Again this year the dinner was held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hawthorn Woods, thank you St Matthew for your gracious hospitality.
This year LCC recognized two special volunteers, Jan Gerzevske from St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton and Helmut Mueller from Immanuel Lutheran in Palatine, who have given hundreds of hours volunteering for LCC over the last nine years.
We also had a special staff award, the HUR Award, which was presented to Marie Payes. The HUR Award is based on Exodus 17:8-12. Marie's steady, faithful support behind the scenes has been critical to allow LCC to grow and meet the challenges that God has put before us.
We again want to say thank you to ALL THE LCC volunteers - without them - LCC simply would not be able to serve the number of people in need that we serve! LCC is its churches and hundreds of volunteers. THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!
The HUR Award is for one who holds up the hands of another!

Thank you for your interest in helping the victims of Superstorm Sandy as they continue the process of recovery. LCC is serving the Atlantic and New Jersey Districts of the LCMS as the registrar for all volunteers. We are working with the District Disaster Response Coordinators (DDRC), Reverend Derek Lecakes in the Atlantic District and Reverend Don Brand in the New Jersey District, to provide an orderly flow of volunteers to locations they designate.
